Don't let them make decisions for you!

In the current political and social environment, many specific issues need to be addressed.  But there is no one specific issue that holds a candle in importance to the importance in an attitude change of the average citizens of the country.

Every bad decision, power grab, government growth bill, rights restriction or unconstitutional interference started out with a few people crying about the injustice of whatever the current focus is, and how there must be a change NOW or the world will end, the country will fail, the huge number of people who suffered permanent unnatural hair discoloration due to inadequate training of beauticians (or whatever specific targetd ‘victim’ group is the current tool for the politicians) will suffer inhuman indignities that CANNOT be overlooked at any and all cost.

Once they have created their campaign to advance the immediate need to have something done about a victim situation, they then turn the machine towards ‘doing something’ NOW.  This is the tried and true method for getting a major law passed – to make the constituents believe, whether it is true or not, that as a politician and leader of the country you know in your heart something must be done, and you are willing to make the hard decisions to do it.

There is really only one civil and decent tool that can be used against them once they start making noise about some new crisis that needs to be addressed RIGHT NOW!!!.  That tool is simple, straightforward, and based on common sense.  You see, once they get their teeth into something, they WILL see something done.   And whatever their solution is, you can bet it won’t be done in your best interest.  So what is the solution?  People need to address issues themselves, to make sure that something is being done and solutions are being implemented BEFORE the big government crisis machine is fired up.  You see, politicians need to create crisis to limit your rights and enhance theirs.  So we have to avoid giving them seeds for crisis, and we have to step on them when they start to accelerate their process.

It is not really a party issue, but many people look to their party to fix these things for them.  That, in America, is like giving your authority and power to a person who would be king while screaming that you will never accept the rule of a king.  The parties are merely tools of the people, they do not hold any power or influence or control, they are just organizations that can be used to bring a great mass of human pressure, generated by citizens, to focus in places where ordinary citizens are not welcome to participate.  And yes, Washington is now a place where ordinary citizens are not welcome to participate.

At the recent Republican State Convention, the typical political move of approving platform and agenda points without discussion was tried (as it always is, that is the nature of politicians in general).  But many of the delegates stood up and demanded that the process remained under THEIR control, and not the control of the party powers.  Hours of debate and clarification and re-writing of almost every platform and operational point followed, but the end result was formulated by the citizens in attendance, ordinary citizens with no more privilege or power than the average high school student.  These people were only different from those not in attendance in one way – they simply chose to find a way to become a delegate or alternate (a simple process, really, doesn’t take a lot of money or power or influence, really just a little time and the desire to show up and volunteer).  It is the fact that they chose to be personally involved, not the fact that they chose to vote Republican,  that made this difference.

You see, these conservatives located a tool they need to make changes they see as necessary, and they stepped in and re-designed that tool on a state level to be effective for them.  They did not simply accept the will of the Party, they made the Party accept their will.

In this time when it is a full time job just to tell your political allies from your enemies, when the people claiming to be Republican in many cases don’t show a single Republican tendency, when people who are secure in their seats sell you down the river one minute and then come begging for your support the next, you cannot count on the will of the politician, or on his nature, no matter what party they represent.  You have to take ownership, to join with your fellow citizens and force your will upon the representatives, to mold the platforms, to control the progress of agendas through being really active.  I have spent time each month addressing being active, being motivated, but now it goes beyond just talking.  We as conservatives must actively and purposefully re-design our party at every level, we must not look to our current or hopeful political leaders as ‘great white hopes’.  Instead we must address them with skepticism and intolerance; they must know that we will control the ideology of the Party, and that we will demand without alternative their allegiance to us, not their allegiance to any personal agenda that doesn’t involve us.  We must actively and personally let each and every person we send as representative know they are on a short leash, and they don’t have our faith, our trust, or our support until they earn it, and earn it continually.  You see, it is not about parties anymore, it is about a small group of ‘them’ running ramshackle over the majority of us, and we don’t have to let that happen, but it takes action, not just talk and complaining and 10 minutes one Tuesday every two or four years.  The government only runs over us with our explicit permission.  Let’s use every tool we have, including our Party, to let them know we no longer give them that permission, we take our permission away from all the bad decisions they have made in the past years, and we grant them nothing, no power, no authority, that doesn’t come from direct interaction with us, and we demand to be the biggest part of the process, as it was meant to be.

You want to be Republican?  It doesn’t get any more Republican than that.  So if you call yourself a conservative, a Republican, no matter what others will say, you now know what to do.  Limit Government intervention, demand your role in running the country, and don’t allow them to run over you.
